Michael Boyd The reality of life is that it doesn't always go as we dream. In fact for some it has fragmented security and contentment into a nightmare that can take years to unravel. Thankfully there are caring and compassionate individuals willing to share the answers that have worked for them as a result of having been pushed through personal circumstantial knotholes. When I was introduced to Heart of the Cumberland by one of these caring and compassionate individuals I knew that by having processed through my own grief because of divorce, death, and an injury that left me permanently disabled, the support being offered was something I could do. I accepted the invitation to become a facilitator first for death bereavement and then for divorce grief after seeking God's will regarding my involvement. Because God has been my best source of strength in bringing me victoriously through my grief I was delighted to discover Heart of the Cumberland to be faith based. The support group curriculum in fact includes God and Scripture.
It has been such a blessing to witness each participant in these support groups offer encouragement to one another because they recognize somebody else understands what they are going through. Watching a brother place his hand on the shoulder of a hurting brother, saying, "I'm sorry, I know it's not easy", is priceless! The reason Heart of the Cumberland exists is for moments like these for which I am thankful to God for the blessing of being able to witness these experiences. It is awesome to be a part of an organization who in partnership with God is in the business of mending broken people.
