Grief matters. It deserves to be acknowledged and expressed. People of all ages need a safe, understanding space to process loss. If you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, you don’t have to walk this path alone. At Heart of the Cumberland, we offer free grief support groups where caring facilitators and peers provide understanding, encouragement, and hope.

Whether it’s a peer support group or a special event such as Grief Art Expression, Community Candlelight Memorial Service, various retreats and more, it is our heart to provide a safe and encouraging place to move forward in your grief.
There is a place for you.
Heart of the Cumberland offers Christ-centered peer support groups—free of charge—for individuals and families.
We provide safe spaces for men, women, children, and youth to share experiences, find comfort, and develop tools for healing.
Childcare is available for select sessions—please see the program schedule for details.
Groups meet for 11 weeks in spring and fall (journal-based sessions) and 6–8 weeks in summer and winter (devotional-style gatherings). Through these gatherings, participants form strong connections and journey together through the many aspects of grief.
Guided by Care & Compassion
Each group is led by trained and compassionate facilitators who listen, support, and pray with participants. Beyond weekly meetings, we host additional member events throughout the year—such as art workshops, social gatherings, and our annual memorial candlelight ceremony.
Support in Schools & the Community
Our peer support groups are available both in the community and through Putnam County Schools BEST Groups, ensuring children and youth can access support during the school day.
